As a Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner and K-12 Reading Specialist, I provide one-to-one reading tutoring services for students with dyslexia or students who have other reading difficulties. The Wilson Reading System, an Orton Gillingham instructional approach, is used. With students below third grade, the related Wilson Reading System Fundations may be used.

Lessons are structured, build on skills, and include multisensory activities. Learning is fun and active with games and physical movement. 

Tutoring sessions last one hour.  Since overcoming reading difficulties takes time and requires intensive, consistent instruction and practice, students attend 2 to 3 times a week. 

I offer reading tutoring in person or online.  Online lessons closely replicate the experience of face-to-face learning.  

Literacy is my passion!  I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Reading from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I have spent 30 years working in education with a focus on literacy.  I have worked as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, school-based curriculum lead teacher, district K-5 lead teacher, and most recently as a Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner with My Literacy Solutions, LLC.  I have been trained extensively in the science of reading and attained several designations, including K-12 Reading Specialist, Fundations Facilitator, Fundations Presenter, Wilson Level I Certification, and Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner. The Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner Certification is accredited by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA).  

Through using Wilson Reading with students, I see my students grow in reading ability and confidence.  Students learn specific strategies to read and spell words vs. their previous guessing strategy.
